Roadside Artisan Creativity is a powerful way to express emotions and stories. When we talk about expressing our feelings, art is the best medium. Only those who have truly experienced art can understand its depth. The real truth is felt within.
Art (creativity) is the real truth of life. I discovered this while healing from chronic depression by creating artwork every day. That was when I realized: “Art is the truest medium of expressing ourselves.” However, I am not here to share my story. Instead, I want to shine a light on those artists who never got the chance to showcase their talent on a bigger platform. With no dedicated space to display their work, they turned the streets into open-air galleries, bringing Roadside Artisan Creativity to life on every corner of the road.
The ground reality of Indian artists
In India, now known as Bharat, we can broadly categorize artists into three groups, similar to how Bollywood classifies actors: insiders, outsiders, and those who have no side. Now, let’s get back to the topic where we are.
1- Top-level artists:- The first one consists of those who have multilevel access to prestigious platforms, galleries, and institutions that expand their talent and provide them with far-flung(broad) recognition. Here, we all know that we can not suggest anyone with anything but a humble request to all famous artists to come forward and look after the situation of artists in India and take necessary steps to safeguard them and also try to provide them a proper stage to showcase their work.
2- The mystic Roadside artists:-Exceptionally skilled roadside artisans, who once dreamed of a bigger stage or formal platform, now transform the streets into open-air galleries. Showcasing their work to passersby, they hope to make ends meet. Instead of fearing failure, they fully embrace their creativity in daily life. Without concern for galleries or major platforms—many of which they may not even know exist—they focus entirely on their craft. Roadside artisan creativity brings art directly to the people, turning everyday spaces into vibrant expressions of culture and talent.
3- To quit or keep going:- Now, the most crucial and often overlooked category includes those who possess immense talent and passion for art but are held back by the fear of financial stability. Doubting whether art can provide them with a sustainable source of income, they aloofly( unwilling) to quit their creative aspirations and pursue alternate carriers that offer financial security. This unfulfilled potential not only limits individual artistic expression but also represents a significant loss to the cultural and artistic heritage of the nation.
Practical Ways to Support Artists
After giving too much attention to the problem, let’s discuss some solutions that are easy to execute without any worry about finance. Here are some suggestions that we wanted to share with you.
1-The government should take a stand for artists:–
The government should come forward to help artists and provide a smooth platform for applying for government grants, exhibitions, and artists’ fellowships. A simplified single online portal would make it easier for artists to apply for the help they need.
2- Online platform for art sales and exhibition:-
In today’s digital era where everything is available on social media and most people are available on social media too, in that case, art sales and exhibitions need to go beyond a simple marketplace. Such a platform not only provides commercial opportunities for artists but also serves as a hub for art enthusiasts, collectors, and curators. It allows buyers to request personalized artwork from artists and buyers can purchase artwork directly through secure payment methods.
3- Schools and colleges should organize cultural art festivals:-
Schools and colleges should organize art exhibitions from time to time without high platform fees, invite local artists to show their work, and give workshops to the students. With the help of these small steps, we can take our rich cultural art to a wider audience, inspiring more people to show interest in this. As awareness grows it will influence more people in shaping our national heritage and future.
4- Creating public art collaborations with private firms:-
By inviting the artists and providing them with a smooth platform at a low cost, corporations, and businesses could come forward to help Artists by organizing art events in their place.
5- Utmost use of technology:-
We can use the power of technology to share our rich cultural art with more people, inspiring them and increasing its importance. As technology connects tradition with the modern world, more people will appreciate and support art, helping it grow and thrive in our country.
6- Health and well-being support:-
Supporting artists’ health and well-being is crucial for nurturing their creativity and ensuring long-term success. First and foremost, providing access to physical and mental health resources helps them maintain their artistic passion. Additionally, financial stability allows them to focus on their craft without constant stress. Moreover, a strong and supportive community encourages them to express themselves freely. As a result, artists can continue to thrive and enrich the world with their art, inspiring future generations.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Companies implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) not just to increase profits but also to actively contribute to society positively. Also known as corporate citizenship, CSR ensures that businesses play a responsible role in the world around them. By focusing on ethical practices, environmental sustainability, and community support, companies create a lasting impact beyond financial growth.
