About Us

Hello Readers, Thanks to those who are reading this post. My name is Purnima Awasthi founder of KalaSpot.com.

We are art lovers just like you. Everyone loves artwork right, do we appreciate the artist who made this artwork?

This thought came to mind when we (Purnima & Animesh) returned home from my institute.

While coming home, my husband and I saw some art sellers sitting on the sidewalk.

They were selling beautiful art pieces, ceramics, and wooden structures and a bookseller had also set up a stall of his books.

After observing them from a distance for some time, we decided to go to them and buy some articles. When we went near them we were mesmerized by the beauty of their artwork. By the time we looked away from their art pieces, there was another couple who were willing to buy their products. They appreciated his artwork but not the artist who made it.

After a lot of bargaining, the seller told them his final price but it seemed they didn’t like it and they started talking to the seller with disrespect and yelling at him.

The artisan was selling beautiful art pieces for just one-tenth of their true value, not realizing how much they really worth

After the couple left the shop without buying anything, Our eyes met with the seller and we both felt sad. That was the day I asked myself “ Do we really appreciate the artwork by disrespecting its creator? That day KalaSpot was born.

KalaSpot is the medium where we acknowledge the artwork of those artists whose talent is limited to roadside only, who didn’t get a chance to show their talent to the world.

This is our small effort to appreciate small art sellers by giving them a platform where we can showcase their artwork and the story behind it.
